If you think Japan hardly affects your life, think again. Japan is one of the biggest economies in Asia and in the world. Whatever you do, wherever you go, you will surely find a Japanese product. Sometimes, you are using a product imported from this East Asian country without even knowing it. If you don't believe it, check your TV. Is it Sony? Is your game console Nintendo? Do you eat sushi or sashimi? Do you watch anime? Your computer may be made in your country but the microchips and the processor inside may be a Japanese product. You see, Japan is a major mover in the global economy that it is hard to imagine international markets without a piece of it being dominated by the Land of the Rising Sun.

There was a time when people cringed whenever they see a “Made in Japan” label. Back then, Japanese exports suffered the same reputation as China's today. But due to stricter government regulations and more rigid economic policies, Japan was able to improve and overcome this bad tag. Today, when we say Japanese products, we mean dependability, high quality and not to mention expensive.

Japanese products have penetrated the global market tremendously that Japan somehow injected a bit of their culture to different countries. You may not notice it but you'll be surprised to know how diverse these products are. What are the top export products of Japan and how much of them do they send to the global market? 6. Food products. Making up 0.5 % of Japan's exports are food products. Japanese food has been appreciated by different cultures for centuries. For sure, there is a Japanese restaurant near you. You might also have tasted sushi at least once in your life.

5. Non-metal mineral products. Constituting 1.1% of all the Japanese products abroad are non-metal mineral products. These include glass, ceramic, graphite, clay and stone.

4. Textile products. You may not be aware of it but your bedsheets, blankets and curtains may be made in Japan. Textile products make up 1.5%.

3. Metal products. Around 6.5% of all Japan's exports are metal products. More than 4% of which is iron and steel.

2. Chemical products. The medicine you take, the cosmetic products you use or the chemicals used in metal plating for your electrical equipment may be a product of the hardwork of the Japanese people. Chemical products make up 8.5%.

1. Machinery and equipment. Of course, the top spot is occupied by machinery and equipment. Your TV set, your microwave and your car could all be made in Japan. More than 71% of Japan's exports are composed of these products. It can be broken down into electrical machinery (23.5%), general machinery (20.6%) and automobiles (15.1%).

The days when Japan was struggling to get a firm grip on the global market are long been over. Today, Japan enjoys a pretty good reputation when it comes to their export products.
